Lizzie grew up on the Isle of Jura, on the Ardlussa Estate. She qualified at the Edinburgh School of Food and Wine over 25 years ago, and has been cooking ever since. She has worked in homes and businesses all over Scotland and abroad, and in 2008 she returned to the school to teach. A period working as a recruitment consultant for a private staffing agency gave birth to the idea of running her own, and in 2018 she took over Silver Teal. She currently splits her time between Edinburgh and Jura, where she still sometimes cooks for the Ardlussa Estate.
As a cook herself Lizzie is in the best possible position to interpret what is needed from a job. Her in-depth understanding of the requirements of estates, lodges and private homes, along with the network of contacts she has built over the years, ensure she can match every client with the most suitable staff.
